A scenic trail through the Himalayas, the Deo Tibba base camp trek is among the popular treks in Himachal Pradesh. Known as the traditional route of shepherds, this trek basically circumambulates the base of Deo Tibba peak (6001m), also known as the “Throne of the Gods’, one of the highest mountain peaks in the Kullu valley.
Passing through diverse terrain and vegetation, the trail pose a moderate challenge but the ultimate bliss of the mountains. Start from the lush green valleys of the Kullu area proceeding to barrenness and further to glaciers and snowfields. Get ready to begin your trek. Here the guide and support staff will prepare you for the adventurous trek in the Himalayas. Enjoy the view while all things required for the trek are loaded on pack animals or porters. Savor a mouthwatering lunch. Start the uphill trail from Jagatsukh to Sarotu Thach, a scenic 4-5 hours trek. The trail passes through lush forests of pine and deodar also with abundance of mountain flowers welcoming you all the way. Set camp for the night, at Sarotu Thach. Savor a delicious dinner and retire for the day. Overnight stay at Saroute Thach.
Walk up to the fresh mountain air. Freshen up with a delightful breakfast. Today the trail rises steeply until a river crossing. Afterwards the gradient eases out as you approach Jogidug. Known as the holy place this is a charming beauty. Savor packed lunch on your trek. From Jogidug, prepare for a short climb that leads to the campsite of Lamadug. The pictorial location enjoys a bird’s-eye view of the Kullu valley as well as the presiding snowcapped peaks of the Pir Panjal range. Settle down in the bliss for the night. Bonfire, delicious dinner and fun stories make it a memorable delight. Overnight stay in Lamadug.
Breathe in the freshness of the mountains while relishing breakfast. Later in the day proceed for a gentle trek to Raori Kholi. The easy trail passes through the scenic bliss of the mountains and can be easily covered in 3-4 hours. On the way, stop for lunch. The blissful food and the surroundings make the experience a cherished memory. On arrival in Raori Khaoli, check in at the camping site. Set in the middle of an alpine meadow, the location is truly beautiful. Experience the pristine bliss as the meadow is very less frequented by tourists and is more of a secret only which is used by the shepherds and local horsemen for grazing their animals. Stay in overnight camp at Raori Kholi.
Start the day with healthy breakfast at the campsite. Today, start the trek as you embark on the trail slowing ascending uphill. Hike up to the ridge in the mountain till the peaks of Deo Tibba and Indrasen comes into view. Stop for a while and enjoy the ethereal beauty of the mountains. Opt to enjoy your lunch while enjoying the charming views. Later, begin your descent to the Deo Tibba valley. Here the trail involves leisurely walking through thick forest of Rhododendron, Silver Birch and Juniper. On the way, cross the Alain River. Enjoy the pictorial bliss. Continue with your trail. The 3-4 hours trek of the day ends at the camping site at Pyangneru (the base of Deo Tibba). Overnight stay amid the blissful environs.
Today is the last day you spend trekking in the mountains. Have breakfast and begin your trek. Enjoy the trail out of the Deo Tibba valley enjoying the picturesque bliss. Follow the uphill trail while enjoying the beauty of Alain River which will fall on the left. Stop for lunch on the way. It’s more of a picnic amid natural beauty while gorging on delicious food. Walk till the Hampta valley. From here you will descend to Hampta River. Continue walking till you reach Jobhri. Here you will cross a beautiful gurgling river, known as Jobhri Nala. Bid adieu to the mountains and thrilling Deo Tibba trek. From this site get transfer back to Manali passing through the Sethan & Hampta Village. From Jobhri to Manali it is a 15 km distance that will be covered by road. On arrival in Manali, you can either opt for a stay at the hotel.
